Land Acknowledgement
We acknowledge that ALCLA Native Plants is located in what is now known as Calgary; Moh-kíns-tsis by the Blackfoot, Wincheesh-pah by the Stoney Nakoda, Kootsisáw by the Tsuut’ina Dene, and Otos-kwunee by the Nehiyawak or Cree First Nations.
We are located on Treaty 7 Territory which was signed in 1877 by the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot Confederacy) which includes the Piikani, Kainai, and Siksika First Nations; the Tsuut’ina First Nation; and Îyâxe Nakoda (Stoney Nakoda) which includes the Bearspaw, Chiniki, and Wesley First Nations.
We are also located in Métis District 4. We acknowledge all First Nations, Inuit, and Métis people across Turtle Island as the original stewards of this land and in perpetuity.
As settlers in this land, we acknowledge that we are treaty partners. We seek to honour treaty law and Indigenous law across this beautiful land for the well-being of all human and non-human bodies including animals, plants, micro-organisms, mountains, and rivers for many generations to come.
